Zarnok Fortress: Weekly Devlog #3

Happy Holidays!

Every minute not spent with family this week, I was plugging away at Zarnok Fortress! (Well okay, a little time spent on the iOS port of Phoenix Wright).
This week, a lot of changes to Robo's Compact Mode. Anyone who's played Robo's World: The Blulite Rocks (all 5 of you) will know that Robo can fold up to boost his defense.

Zarnok Fortress: Weekly Devlog #2

I'll start things off by saying that the pictured background detail is the spot where I test new tiles completed by @originalwalcor as they are added to the game, so that's why they change so frequently.

  • I've also implemented some new animations for Robo created by @originalwalcor, as well as a general fix for Robo's bounding box. Spine doesn't have a way of creating coordinate precise bounding boxes, so I overlaid a transparent ruler onto my screen and used that.

Zarnok Fortress: Weekly Dev-log #1

Compare this to screenshot from the previous post and you should see a number of improvements, some more subtle than others.
For starters, I got rid of that grey temporary background I whipped up in photoshop to prevent the background from being a flat color.
The Specialist is now in-game! You can see him targeting Robo with a Railgun.
Also, holograms are now animated. Although you can't tell, in the previous build they were simple Tiles, but I've since gone in and added a layer of programming polish to make them more alive, especially when they're damaged.
